The Blonde d’Aquitaine Society of Australia and New Zealand is set up to support the breeding of quality, muscled beef cattle that will produce high yielding carcasses. Combined with easy calving and rapid growth, using Blonde bulls will increase the profits of producers in many beef breeding situations.
Excellent Dressing Percentages
In numerous cases, Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle have dressed out at 65 to 67% and their crosses dress out from 59 to 62%.
Blondes have smaller heads, lighter bone, smaller stomachs and a thinner lighter hide. These points along with the Blonde’s heavier muscling results in the Blonde’s high dressing percentages.
Excellent Feed Conversion
In the Vasse Feed Efficiency Trials the Blonde d’Aquitaine breed, on average, needed only 5.3kgs of feed to gain 1kg live weight.
Some breeds required, on average, 7kg of feed to gain 1kg of weight.
Rapid Growth Rates
Blonde d’Aquitaine Breeders often make claims of great calf growth. We now have the means to back it up.
The Blonde d’Aquitaine Society of Australia and New Zealand now have enabled EBV’s to compare pure Blondes with crossbreds and other breeds through Cross-breed Analysis.
High Retail Meat Yield
Blonde d’Aquitaine cattle and their crosses are an economical choice for butchers because of their high meat-to-bone ratio.
These cattle can comfortably yield up to 80%.
